UK Schools Games Starts Tomorrow
Carnegie swimmers Chelsea Lawson, Rachael O'Donnell, Blair Hershaw and Mark Szaranek travel down to the North East tomorrow
for the 2010 UK Schools Games at Sunderland. The swimmers have been selected to represent the Scotland South & East Team, good luck guys! A one hour highlights programme will be broadcast on Saturday 18th September 07.00am till 08.00am and on Channel 4+1 from 08.00am till 09.00am.

Slight Change To Training Timetable
The main training timetable has been updated to show a slightly earlier finish at Dollar on Monday and Thursdays. Swimmers have to be out of the changing rooms by 6:50pm for the next group coming in and parents must be there at this time to collect them.

Great Afternoon At Elie
Thanks to everyone who turned up at Elie yesterday and made it such an enjoyable day. Around 40 swimmers and 3 big kids John, Gary & Ally, enjoyed the kayaks and the inflatable banana and thankfully the weather stayed fine. Thanks to the guys at Elie Watersports who made the afternoon run smoothly and ensured everyone had a go and also to all the parents who helped out at the BBQ afterwards.

Fun Afternoon For Performance Squads
A fun afternoon for swimmers from both the Performance & Performance Development Squads has been arranged for this Sunday the 29th August at Elie beach.
Ally has arranged to hire a speedboat with inflatable banana and some kayaks for the kids from 12 o'clock in the afternoon. We will also have a BBQ on the beach.
This is a well done and thank you to all the Carnegie swimmers who competed for the Club at the SNAG's in April but all swimmers from these Squads can come along. Please check the Members Forum for full details.

Great Meet For Rodgie
The final day at Sunderland saw Carnegie swimmer Craig Rodgie take Silver in the 100m Back to add to his 4 Gold medals over the course of the meet at the British Gas Nationals. Well done from everyone at Carnegie Craig.

Gold No2 For Rodgie
Last night saw Gold medal number 2 for Carnegie swimmer Craig Rodgie at the British Gas ASA National Championships in Sunderland. Craig went into the final of the 100m Free in fastest position and despite being just outside his personal best time he took the Gold medal in the S14 category with 802 points with a time of 59.56, another great effort from Craig.

Gold For Rodgie At British Nationals
The opening day at Sunderland for the British Gas ASA Championships saw a great start for Carnegie swimmer Craig Rodgie. 20 year old Craig from Dalgety Bay won the Gold medal in the MD 50m Free in a new personal best time of 27.01. A great start to the competition, well done Craig.

Carnegie Dominate Fife League
We have been issued with the total points for the 4 Fife League meets this year and our combined Boys & Girls teams amassed a huge points total and well deserved overall victory. The Top 3 Final Standings were: 1st Carnegie 2406 pts - 2nd Fins 1145 pts - 3rd Steprock 722 pts. Well done again to all who competed and thanks to everyone for their support. All swimmers who took part in the Fife Leagues will receive an award at this years Presentation Night ( details of which will be issued soon ). Carnegie Swimmer Selected For Scottish Triathlon Squad
Congratulations to Carnegie swimmer Calum Ferguson who has just been selected by TriathlonScotland to go the British Youth Championships as part of the Performance Team. 15 year old Calum from Alva, will travel with the rest of the squad to Parc Bryn Bach in Wales on Sunday 19th September, good luck Calum and well done on your selection.

Club Championship Information
This years Carnegie Club Championships take place on Sunday 19th Sept at FIPRE. Warm up 2:00pm, gala starts 2:45 and due to end at 5:45. This year the club champs is OPT IN. If you don't enter you won't be swimming! Entries have to be in via the Members Forum by 6pm, Wed 8th September. There are full details of the events on our Members Forum.

Chanel 4 To Show UK Schools Games Highlights
Anne O'Donnell has informed us that Channel 4 are planning to show a highlights programme of this years UK School Games at which we have 4 swimmers competing, Rachael O'Donnell, Chelsea Lawson, Blair Hershaw & Mark Szaranek will all compete for Scotland South & East. The one hour highlights programme will be broadcast on Saturday 18th September from 07:00am till 08:00am and on Channel 4+1 from 08:00am till 09:00am.To get the support of a major broadcaster like Channel 4 is fantastic for the event. The Sainsbury's UK School Games feature the next generation of sporting stars, at some of the best sporting venues the UK has to offer. Hopefully all our swimmers make it onto the telly !

Update To Main Training Timetable
In order to retain the Beginners lessons the Club have tweaked the main training timetable which is now showing on the main Training page of the website and the Members Forum. The Beginners will now go into the main pool at Cowdenbeath on a Saturday evening alongside Jennifer's Sharks from 6.30-7.30pm and the Orcas and Junior Development Squads will move through to Tulliallan from 4-6pm. Full details of when the Beginners lessons resume will be communicated as soon as possible.

Day 3 At Sheffield
Mark Szaranek has qualified comfortably for the final this evening of the boys 14 yrs 400m Free. Lewis Kirby has just swam an excellent personal best time of 2:19.02 in the 200m Backstroke, taking nearly a full second off his entry time, well done Lewis.

Hat-Trick For Mark On Day 2
Mark Szaranek has won Gold in all three of his finals this evening taking the 14yr old British Titles in the 200m Fly, 100m Free & 200m IM and smashing his own Scottish National Age Group Records in all three as well, an incredible effort.
Mark Started the evening off with a Gold in the 200m Fly in a time of 2:07.39 winning by almost 2 seconds. He then took Gold in the 100m Free in a time of 53.68 and rounded the evening off by leading the pack by nearly 3 seconds winning Gold in the 200m IM in a time of 2:08.60, another Scottish Record and just outside the British Age Group Record. That's 4 Gold's out of 4 so far for him, a superb feat, well done Mark.
Mark is in action again tomorrow in the 400m Free and Lewis Kirby competes in the 200m Backstroke, good luck boys.

Great End To Day 1 At Sheffield
Mark Szaranek takes Gold in the final of the boys 14 yrs 100m Backstroke at the British National Age Groups in Sheffield last night. Mark finished first in a time of 1:00.65 which is a new Scottish National Age Group record. There were also good performances from Lewis Kirby and Zoe Mitchell in the 100m Backstroke and 1500m Free.

Good Luck Carnegie Swimmers
I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing good luck to the Carnegie swimmers who start travelling down to
Sheffield from today for the British Age Group and Youth Championships which take place over the next 3 weeks.Lewis Kirby, Zoe Mitchell, Mark Szaranek, Chelsea Lawson, Rachael O'Donnell, Catriona Laird and Craig Rodgie will start heading off down South from today.
Sammy Macmillan and Roisin Donnelly also qualified but have decided not to travel due to injury or illness. Best wishes to you all from everyone at Carnegie.

International Open Water Success

overall female in the 1 mile 'Race for the Conch'.

Performance Development Squad Summer Break
This Saturday the 10th July will be the last day of training for the Performance Development Squad before their summer break.
They will finish up after the Stirling NSA session from 4-6pm and will resume on Wednesday 11th August at Cowdenbeath 6-8.30pm. Have a nice break!

Dunfermline Press Article
The Dunfermline Press have run the story this week of HMS Caley and their decision to withdraw access to the local clubs who use their facilities.
Two local MSP's have given us their support to try and reverse the naval base's decision which stops our access from Saturday 10th July 2010.

New Timetable Update
The new training timetable, which we have been forced to formulate after the decision by HMS Caley to refuse all
clubs access to their facilities, is almost ready to be shown to the committee for their approval and then issued to all

Meeting On New Timetable
There is a meeting tonight with Carnegie President Gary Watson and the coaching staff to get a new timetable
organised following the decision by HMS Caledonia to no longer allow our Club to train there. This will have a big impact
on not only Carnegie but the other clubs who also used the facility but we are hopeful a decent timetable can be arranged for our swimmers. We will inform you as soon as possible on any outcome.

Carnegie Swimmers Perform Well At Scottish Open
There were lots of good performances from the Carnegie Swimmers at the Scottish Open & Age Group Championships at Tollcross in Glasgow
last week. The event also incorporated the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games qualifying trials and was attended by top swimmers from the whole of Britain including Rebecca Adlington and Hannah Miley.
Head Coach John Szaranek was rightly pleased with the effort shown from all the Carnegie swimmers. Well done everyone.

British Masters 2010 Update
'The British Masters and Senior Age Group Long Course Championships were held at Tollcross, Glasgow this weekend. The Carnegie Masters who took part were in great form and produced some stunning swims. It proved to be a fantastic weekend and the culmination of many weeks of dedication and hard training. Amongst the individual medals and record breaking performances was a European Masters record for the 4 x 100m Free relay. Well done everyone! Full list of results to follow.

HMS Caley Fair
This Sunday 20th July is the Bi-Annual Fair at HMS CALEDONIA.
The aim of the Fair is to raise money for local & military charities. The main recipients this year are the Mary Leishman Foundation & CHAS.
A family fun day including stalls, displays, vintage bus rides, music from the Band of HM Marines Scotland, a free fall parachute display, culminating with the presentation of the Queens Colours to the Sea Cadets by Fife's Lord Lieutenant.
It is free to enter and takes place from 10am till 4pm..

Advance Notification Of Stirling NSA Car Park
We have been sent the following information regarding the car park closure at Stirling on Saturday the 10th July:
We are hosting a Big Fun Run on the above date and therefore require to close the car park at the sports centre / swimming pool from the Friday evening. It will be closed until approx. 6.00pm on the Saturday. Only disabled users will be allowed access when it is closed.
Please use alternative car parking at the top of the hill (at the main University building) or at the University residences. .

Free Coaching Sessions In Summer For Carnegie Swimmers
Carnegie Coaches John Kirby and Gary Hallam are undertaking a UKCC L2 course at the NSA Stirling (18th - 25th July). As part of this course, the organisers are looking for volunteer swimmers to undertake a "free coaching" session(s). They are seeking swimmers from the ability range of the Orcas, Junior Development and Performance Development 2 squads.
